Louis Chenevert Left a Legacy at UTC

Louis R. Chenevert is a success in the world of business, but he is best known for his time with the United Technologies Corporation, or UTC. His contributions to the field of aviation were honored in May of 2011 when Aviation Week & Space Technology proclaimed him the Person of the Year. During his time as the Chief Executive Officer of UTC, he brought the interests of the customers, shareholders, and stakeholders together. UTC was an industrial conglomerate with a value of $63 billion. Due to the actions of Louis Chenevert, the company remained the leader in the aerospace market, paid their workers fair wages, maintained environmental compliance, and never left their birthplace of Connecticut. He stepped down in 2014.

UTC assembles jet engines, and manufacturers elevators, escalators, and helicopters. Their aerospace division manufacturers flight controls, brakes, flight sensors, landing gear, aerostructures, and actuators. Louis Chenevert brought UTC extremely high revenues, despite the recession gripping the economy. The value of the company’s shared rose 200 percent, beginning at $37 per share, and increasing to $117 per share. He did not believe in outsourcing, and did not layoff any of their engineers. He used his intelligence to battle the complex problems he encountered, and directed his strength to the building and aerospace sectors.

The Canada native Louis Chenevert led UTC to growth, outstanding business practices, and leveraged their functional, and financial synergies. The decisions he made earned him the nickname of the think tank, and he became a legend at UTC. The way he guided UTC balanced the corporation’s portfolio, and allowed for diversity within many of the different markets. The business mix at UTC was also brought into balance, and the way their revenues, and returns were achieved changed. Louis Chenevert used an effective mixture of a high-quality, and sustained product delivery, and a new type of product creation. This propelled UTC to new height in production, sales, and revenue. UJTC saw benefits at every stage because of the life cycle represented in their business lines. This created a domino effect, and more turnover was established for the business. The differences Louis Chenevert made at UTC are still a part of the company’s operations.
